Off Season Nutrition/Maintenance from Coach DiSandro
It is important that all athletes take care of their bodies away from training by getting plenty of good nutrient dense calories. Protein and carbohydrate rich foods are very important. Not all foods are equal so it is important that athletes put the highest quality calories for the best energy and muscle rebuilding in their bodies. Getting those calories in smaller meals spaced evenly throughout the day is a good way to approach this. Quick weight gain by eating a bunch of junk food is not good. Also, drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated is extremely important. Away from training and school, athletes must also make sure they are getting proper sleep and rest. Off season takes a total commitment and guys must be “all in” with approaching the off season and their bodies to achieve maximum results during their respective seasons.

NCAA Sports Science Institute – Nutrition

*For the 9th and 10th grades specifically: *
I am also encouraging most all of our 9th and 10th grades to do push ups and planks and core exercises away from school on their own. Most younger athletes needs the functional core strength development before they can even start heavy weight training and their personal investment in this will pay dividends in their strength and weight room development for the future.

This Nutrition information will be available on our Website Off Season Nutrition and other Health Tips for Players
