Updates from AD Eric Frank and Coach DiSandro
Below please find a letter from Eric Frank, our Athletic Director and a letter from Coach DiSandro
Shark Family Parents,
We have discovered that student-athletes associated with our Football team tested positive for COVID 19. Due to the sensitively of this topic and HIPAA laws and regulations we cannot disclose any individual’s medical records to other student-athletes, parents, or assistant coaches. When faced with this situation we will work with school administration, district office, and our local Department of Health to ensure the safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and their families.
Any student-athlete that had close personal contact with the individuals who tested positive has been notified and advised to self-quarantine for 14 days and to contact their healthcare provider if symptoms arise. Stating a student on the team or in the program tested positive for COVID-19 with no interactions with other students, offers you, as parents, the opportunity to make personal decisions about allowing your child to continue to participate. Attending summer athletic activities is optional and has no impact on whether your child makes the team. Please let me know if you have any questions on this topic and please continue to diligently follow your COVID 19 plans and stay safe.

Letter from Coach DiSandro:
The FHSAA has announced that Florida high school football will begin as regularly scheduled on 7/27. As we anticipate the start of football we want to make sure we provide the safest atmosphere for Ponte Vedra student athletes.
We are taking the protocols for Covid safety seriously and at this point we have implemented a variety of measures for student athlete protection. These measure now include:
- Disinfecting hands at various points through practice
- Masks on when under 6 feet of space
- We have staggered group rotation times
- We have small groups and avoid large team activities
- We continue to take temperatures and ask daily Covid related questions
- Isolation measures with positive tests and 1 to 1 degrees of separation as instructed by the county office
One thing I ask for help with is to continue to advise the kids to be smart when away from practice. Student athletes can still get Covid away from the high school setting when present at the variety of settings they frequent the other 20-21 hours of their day. It is important that everyone is smart in these regards.I would like to do a zoom call for all parents on Tuesday July 7th at 7PM. We will talk about Covid issues, the start of the FHSAA season and any and all important dates that are coming up. Coach Frank, Sophia our athletic trainer and myself (Coach DiSandro) will all be on the zoom call. Please feel free to email any questions you’d like to discuss in advance to Coach DiSandro
Thank you and look forward to speaking soon.
